From June 8–11, business leaders from across Canada joined the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Brussels and Paris for the 2026 B7 Mission.

Held at a pivotal moment for global trade, economic security and international cooperation, the mission provided a platform for delegates to engage with European elected officials, policymakers and business leaders to explore opportunities for deeper Canada–Europe collaboration

CEUTIA-Canadian Chamber of Commerce Forum

The first day of the mission convened experts at the Mission of Canada to the European Union, Canada’s official representation to the EU. Alongside the Canada EU Trade and Investment Association (CEUTIA), the delegation was welcomed by Ambassador Nicholas Brousseau, Ambassador of Canada to Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and Acting Ambassador to the EU, Canadian Mission to Europe.

Three panels explored collaboration towards greater economic security, Canada–EU leadership in financing major critical minerals projects and maximizing digital strengths.

We extend our sincere thanks to all speakers, moderators and participants who contributed their expertise and insights. Their perspectives helped foster meaningful dialogue and offered valuable insight into the opportunities and challenges shaping the global business environment.

European Parliament

The next day, our delegation met with members of the European Union, including Joost Korte, Special Envoy for the EU–Canada Partnership, European Commission, and President Roberta Metsol, President of the European Parliament. These candid discussions offered insights that highlighted how Europe is paying close attention to Canada’s role in a changing global economy.

Business at the OECD (BIAC)

Our delegation then met with Hanni Rosenbaum, Executive Director, BIAC, and Patrik Kovacs, Executive Board Member of BIAC, for an insightful discussion on the role of business in shaping international economic policy. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives on strengthening collaboration between governments and the private sector.

Ambassador Jean-François Tremblay, Permanent Representative of Canada to the OECD, offered his perspective on Canada’s priorities within the OECD framework and its commitment to advancing inclusive and resilient economic development. The discussions provided insights into how the OECD functions and the importance of dialogue and partnership in building stronger economy.

B7 Mission in Paris

The delegation continued to Paris, where participants engaged with global business leaders through the B7 Summit hosted by Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF).

As the official business engagement group of the G7, the B7 serves as a platform for advancing private sector perspectives on the most pressing economic challenges facing G7 economies. Discussions throughout the summit reinforced the role business plays in driving innovation, competitiveness and long-term economic growth.

Some of the main takeaways from the B7 Mission included:

  • Canada has a significant opportunity to strengthen its position by working closely with like-minded partners to expand trade relationships and build resilience together.
  • There is consensus around diversifying economic partnerships while also strengthening relationships with allies.
  • Amidst both hope and strain, we need to work together — especially those in G7.

What’s Next?

The Canadian Chamber remains committed to creating opportunities for Canadian businesses to engage with international partners, contribute to global conversations and identify new pathways for growth.

Thank you to all delegates, speakers and partners who contributed to the success of this year’s mission.
