Dr. Trevin Stratton, Chief Economist and Vice President of Policy at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, joins The Agenda with Steve Paikin, and comments on the levels of government spending amid economic recovery from COVID-19.
Much of the debate about government spending is creating a false choice between austerity and unlimited spending. Given a recent IMF study reveals Canada’s deficit is the largest in the G20 at almost 20% of GDP, Dr. Stratton argues the more important questions to focus on include how much should we spend and what should we spend it on?
