Make A Change Canada’s new GoRemoteNOW! program provides job-ready candidates and wage subsidies to Canadian employers

Hiring a person with disabilities can help businesses adjust to the changing times and beyond. People with disabilities are innovative and often have to adapt to overcoming barriers in their own lives and at work. Many are primed for remote work and many prefer the temporary, flexible or contract opportunities business needs now to fill the gaps as we adjust our operations.

Make A Change Canada has been helping Canadians from coast to coast realize their full potential, delivering remote employment services and technology skills training since 2005. Included in their educational offerings is now financial support to employers and people with barriers.

Binta Embalo, from Mississauga, Ontario, is a graduate of the web development and design certificate programs, given by Make A Change Canada. She realized that in today’s labour market, it is not easy getting your foot in the door and skills and experience are essential. As a youth and newcomer to Canada, Binta faces other barriers, and her diagnosis of polio makes walking very difficult. This is why she chose an online program that would allow her to participate easily from home. Binta was intimidated as a first-time coder, but with support and patience from friendly staff, she completed her program successfully. Binta describes her experience in the program as “amazing” and is proof in the power of positive thinking as she begins an exciting career journey. “This program opened me to new opportunities to me that I wasn’t aware of,” says Binta.

Now available, Make A Change Canada’s GoRemoteNOW! program provides job-ready candidates and wage subsidies to Canadian employers. This national initiative is being offered to people who self-identify as living with a disability across Canada. Make A Change Canada is looking for employers who are interested in diversity and inclusion hiring to integrate and complete their teams.

There are many benefits to the program including a full wage subsidy for the employer for full-time, part-time and contract positions (for up to 25 weeks or until March 31, 2021) along with the opportunity for interested candidates to engage in meaningful employment.

Other benefits include access to an untapped talent pool, mentorship, home office set-up and retrofits for employees, training, support for employers including possible retrofits, and ongoing follow-up and support from Make A Change Canada’s team of remote professionals.

In these changing times, we need to think differently and this is a way for business to add diversity and inclusion to their teams. Reach out to www.anycareer.ca/employers or 1-888-927-7473 Ext 3 to learn more.
