Inclusive Growth Committee

The Inclusive Growth Committee advocates for a business environment that works for everyone.

About the Committee

At the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, we believe that gender equality, economic reconciliation, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and accessibility are essential to fairness of opportunity, competitiveness of business, and Canada’s economic growth and prosperity.

Our Inclusive Growth initiative advocates for a business environment that works for everyone, paying particular attention to populations that historically and presently face barriers that prevent them from fully participating and thriving in our economy.

Our work on Inclusive Growth began in 2019 through the establishment of the Council for Women’s Advocacy and in 2021, we established the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council. Since their establishment, these two Councils informed and led our work on driving forward the gender equality agenda and advocating for a more inclusive economy. In 2024, these two councils merged and became the Canadian Chamber’s Inclusive Growth Committee.

This committee aims to mobilize and leverage the Canadian Chamber’s multi-sectorial membership and the power of the Canadian Chamber Network to:

  • Bring the voices and perspectives of underrepresented groups, including women, Indigenous peoples, newcomers to Canada, Black and other racialized Canadians, members of the 2SLGTBQ+ community and people with disabilities, to national policies.
  • Inform the Canadian Chamber’s initiatives related to economic reconciliation, women’s economic empowerment, and diversity, equity, and inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Drive meaningful action to remove barriers experienced by underrepresented groups to participate and thrive in the Canadian economy.

The Canadian Chamber’s Inclusive Growth Awards recognize chambers of commerce, boards of trade and their business and non-profit members across Canada that do exceptional work to remove barriers and create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive economy. In addition, these awards are to recognize Indigenous and other underrepresented entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence in innovation and social impact.
