Fabien Gélinas AdE is Sir William C. Macdonald Professor of Law at McGill University, where he served as Associate Dean of Law and Director of the Institute of Comparative Law. He holds an LL.M from the University of Montreal, a Graduate Diploma from the Paris School of Diplomatic Studies (EHEI) and a doctorate in law from the University of Oxford. Professor Gélinas teaches and writes in the areas of comparative law, transnational law, contract law and arbitration. A barrister of 25 years, he was formerly General Counsel of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and served on the drafting committee responsible for the 2012 ICC Rules of Arbitration. He has served as adviser to several international organizations and governments and consults widely on law reform. A past chair of the arbitration committee of ICC Canada, he serves as arbitrator and occasionally as counsel in large international matters.
