Mr Chiasson is a Partner in the International Arbitration Group in the Vancouver office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Between 2006 and 2012, he practiced in the International Arbitration Group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in Paris. Craig obtained his LLB from the University of Alberta in 2001, was called to the British Columbia Bar in May 2002 and qualified as a solicitor for England and Wales in May 2011.

Craig’s arbitration practice focuses on commercial arbitration, including as counsel and arbitrator. He also acts as counsel for both investors and states in investment treaty disputes, and has acted as a tribunal secretary.

Craig’s commercial arbitration experience includes cases seated in Europe, North America and Asia and governed by the substantive laws of jurisdictions, including the United Arab Emirates, England, France, Portugal, Finland, Iceland, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Albania, Turkey, Canada and the United States of America. His industry experience includes mining, power generation (including nuclear, hydro-electric and geothermal), pharmaceuticals, software, telecommunications generally (and satellites specifically), joint ventures and shareholder issues, marine (equipment and ship-building) and oil and gas. His investor-state arbitration experience includes cases involving Turkey, South Africa, Georgia, Argentina and Canada in industries including power generation, oil and gas and mining. His work as tribunal secretary includes working with Jan Paulsson in Pantechniki S.A. Contractors & Engineers v. Republic of Albania (ICSID Case No ARB/07/21) and with Noah Rubins in an ICC case related to the dismantling, transportation and reconstruction of a steel plant.
