G7 Business Leaders to Convene in Ottawa This May
Canadian Chamber of Commerce will hold “Business 7” Presidency throughout 2025 to inform G7 Summit recommendations related to business.
Ottawa, Ontario | November 19, 2024 — The Canadian Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that it will host the Business 7 (B7) Summit in 2025, marking a pivotal moment for Canadian business leadership on the global stage. As the official voice of the international business community within the G7 framework, the B7 Summit brings together senior business leaders, policymakers, and industry experts from the world’s seven largest advanced economies.
Set to take place in the lead up to Canada’s G7 Leaders’ Summit, the B7 will provide an unparalleled platform for addressing critical global challenges, fostering collaboration, and advancing tangible policy recommendations to drive economic growth and stability. As the host, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce will lead discussions on various policy themes ensuring the priorities of Canadian businesses are at the forefront of the global agenda.
This is Canada’s moment to lead,” said Candace Laing, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. “At a time of global uncertainty, from shifting trade policies to sustainability and digital challenges, the B7 Summit provides an opportunity to showcase Canada’s leadership, influence international policies, and empower businesses to navigate the future.
Taking place from May 14 to 16, 2025, in Ottawa, Ontario, the event begins with an exclusive Opening Gala Dinner at the Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec, followed by two days of high-level discussions at the National Arts Centre.
The Summit will culminate with the presentation of the official B7 Communiqué, a policy document outlining actionable recommendations for critical economic sectors. These proposals will be delivered to the Government of Canada ahead of the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, ensuring a strong business voice in shaping global economic priorities.
In addition to the Summit, the Canadian Chamber will host a series of exclusive events throughout its 2025 B7 presidency, fostering stronger multilateral relationships and collaboration within the B7 network.
The 2025 B7 Summit arrives at a critical moment as global trade and investment patterns are being reshaped by factors such as changing trade policies, the review of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), and the broader implications of recent U.S. elections. In this context, the B7 Summit will serve as an essential forum for international collaboration, allowing business leaders to respond to today’s uncertainties and unlock new pathways for growth and investment in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
Further details on the summit’s theme and additional programming will be released in the coming months.
