New Report from BDL on the Role of Gen AI in Addressing Canada’s Productivity Problem

Generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) has the potential to help address one of the greatest economic threats to our prosperity and living standards: low productivity.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Business Data Lab (BDL) has been keeping a close eye on Gen AI adoption by Canadian businesses for a while, knowing that the possibilities presented by this transformative technology will have major implications for business, as well as Canada’s global competitiveness and future prosperity. And now, BDL is ready to present the findings of its new report, Prompting Productivity: Generative AI Adoption by Canadian Businesses.

In Prompting Productivity, BDL examines and forecasts Gen AI adoption by Canadian businesses in the context of Canada’s productivity problem. The report highlights the value Gen AI creates for Canadian businesses and the barriers that hold businesses back from adopting new technologies like Gen AI, before offering concrete recommendations for business and policymakers to accelerate wider adoption.

We hope that business leaders and policymakers alike use the insights in the report to ensure Canada’s competitiveness and prosperity don’t fall further behind our competitors’.
