On Thursday, April 20, we hosted a celebratory dinner in Montreal to honour two outstanding business executives that have created a profound impact in the Canadian business community. A great venue, outstanding entertainment and esteemed invitees made this evening truly memorable. With special thanks to our honourees, Rania Lllewellyn and Calin Rovinescu.
Rania Llewellyn, Canadian Business Leader of the Year Honouree
Rania Llewellyn was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Laurentian Bank on October 30, 2020, and she is the first woman to lead a major chartered bank in Canada. Ms. Llewellyn is a strategic, purpose-driven and innovative leader with more than 27 years of experience in the banking industry. She was joined by her husband Sean for the evening’s festivities.
Calin Rovinescu, Canadian Business Leader Lifetime Achievement Honouree
Calin Rovinescu served as President & Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada from 2009 to 2021, during which time he led a financial and commercial transformation of Air Canada into a global champion. He is a member of the Board of Directors of BCE Inc. and Scotiabank, and a senior advisor to Brookfield Asset Management and Teneo Inc., as well as a venture capital investor in emerging technologies. “When we consider the traits of extraordinary business leaders – strategic, purpose-driven, innovative, agile, experienced, trail-blazing – there is no doubt that tonight’s recipients fits the bill, and then some.”

After a special performance from Montreal based showband, The Directors, guests finished off the evening with dessert, coffee and tea.
