John Siwiec

John Siwiec is Partner at Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall LLP in Ottawa. He has expertise in commercial disputes, including in international arbitration and intellectual property.  John has experience in complex contractual disputes, including those arising from construction projects, franchise agreements, shareholders’ agreements, and the sale of goods and services as well as in the recognition and enforcement of international arbitration awards and foreign judgments.

John has experience as arbitrator and counsel in ICC, LCIA, ICDR, and ICDR Canada arbitrations as well as ad hoc proceedings. He has appeared before all levels of court in arbitration-related matters, including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and the Quebec Superior Court (Commercial Division).  

John has taught a course at the University of Ottawa’s Law Faculty in international arbitration and co-coached the University’s Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot team for seven years.

John is a former President of YCAP, and has been recognized by Global Arbitration Review (GAR) as a Future Leader in Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration.
