The deep expertise, experience and drive to get projects that will advance our economic security done lives within the private sector. It’s businesses and workers who do the hands-on work.

Canadian businesses will again be ready to do their part over the next 30 days. We welcome this consultation wholeheartedly but hope it turns into quick action once it’s concluded.

The government is correct when it says that it “must go further to streamline review and approvals processes, to ensure we build a stronger, more resilient Canadian economy for all.” We have not gone far enough.

The promise of “one project, one review” is a key element of providing predictability for businesses and investors who initiate and build major projects.

As of yet, we still see a persistent lack of confidence among businesses and investors, which is why they have been stuck on the sidelines. This is what our most recent Business Data Lab quarterly report shows clearly.

We hope the government is ready to work with the industry and truly peel back some of the red tape layers that have been holding back business success. That’s how we’ll get the job done.
