Our Statement on Heightened U.S. Steel and Aluminum Tariffs
Doubling the steel and aluminum tariffs to 50% is antithetical to North American economic security.

Unwinding the efficient, competitive and reliable cross border supply chains like we have in steel and aluminum comes at a great cost to both countries. In 2018, under the last round of steel and aluminum tariffs, we saw significant net negative job loss in America. Doubling the steel and aluminum tariffs to 50% is antithetical to North American economic security. The fact remains that Canada is a reliable and secure trading partner that supplies materials that sustain American jobs.
