Our Response to the Government Fixing the Greenwashing Amendment

We’re pleased this new government has listened to the concerns raised by business and chosen collaboration.

November 20, 2025

The Canadian Chamber and our members flagged the risks in the C-59 “greenwashing” amendment from day one — and we haven’t stopped raising the issue since. In February, we co-authored a major report with the Macdonald-Laurier Institute and convened policymakers at an event to underline how the amendment would create a chilling effect — exactly as it has. We’re pleased this new government has listened to the concerns raised by business and chosen collaboration. Fixing this amendment — just as we recommended from the get-go — shows that constructive business advocacy leads to better public policy.
