Our Reaction to the G7 Summit’s AI Statement

We’re pleased to see that these recommendations and others have been captured in today’s G7 statement on AI for Prosperity.

June 17, 2025

In our 2025 B7 communiqué, we called on G7 governments to realize the promise of responsible digital and AI adoption, in an effort to bolster our collective economic security and resilience. Our recommendations included leading and facilitating widespread AI adoption, specifically within the public sector, while also taking steps to accelerate private sector adoption with a focus on SME enablement. We also emphasized the importance of striking an appropriate balance between regulation and innovation.

We’re pleased to see that these recommendations and others have been captured in today’s G7 statement on AI for Prosperity, marking a shift in direction from past G7 AI statements. As Canada and its G7 partners move ahead to create initiatives like the G7 AI Adoption Roadmap and the G7 GovAI Grand Challenge, the business community stands ready to meaningfully collaborate on the successful development and implementation of these projects.
