Looking Ahead to the G7 Leaders’ Summit: A Message from Candace Laing, Canadian Chamber President and CEO, and 2025 B7 Chair

At the Canadian Chamber, we will watch the outcomes of the G7 Summit with hope and optimism.

June 13, 2025

As the global rules-based trade order is increasingly disrupted, G7 countries need to pull together more than ever. Core to an effective, bold response to the shifting global order and emerging threats is business. Small, medium and large enterprises drive productivity, innovation and trade, which are integral to a strong economy and a better life for all.

Last month, business leaders from across the G7 nations came together in Ottawa for the B7 Summit. It was an honour to present the official 2025 B7 Communiqué to Canada’s G7 Sherpa at the end of the successful three-day B7 Summit. It encapsulates months of work, conversation and collaboration among B7 leaders and over 50 cross-sectoral organizations. The Communiqué provides a strategic blueprint for G7 leaders to address today’s most pressing economic challenges and maintain predictable global trade and secure supply chains, while advancing in energy, AI, and digital transformation.

It is up to us, the world’s most advanced economies, whether the rising geoeconomic conflicts drive us together or drive us apart. At the Canadian Chamber, we will watch closely the outcomes of the G7 Summit with hope and optimism and are ready to lead with team Canada.
