Canadian Chamber on 30-Day Tariff Delay
Canadian Chamber on 30-Day Tariff Delay
Tariffs tomorrow instead of tariffs today still leaves businesses, workers and families in the lurch.

A 30-day delay means more time for Canadian businesses and governments to drive home the point that tariffs make no sense between the two closest allies the world has ever known. The Canadian Chamber, our network and businesses across the country will spend every day of it fighting hard to secure this historic, robust trading relationship.
Nevertheless, with tariffs still on the table, the turmoil and uncertainty persist. Tariffs tomorrow instead of tariffs today still leaves businesses, workers and families in the lurch.
This is not a game we want to play when livelihoods depend on existing U.S. relationships. For some provinces and communities the continued risks of these changes are a body blow. $3.6 Billion every day hangs in the balance, as shown by our Canada-U.S. Trade Tracker.
We will not sleep easier until tariffs are taken off the table permanently. Raising the cost of living for Americans and Canadians with these taxes is the wrong move. Canada and the U.S. make things together, and we should in fact be building on that.
For this extension, we appreciate the work of the federal and provincial government and all Canadians who stood up loudly and clearly. In the face of immense challenges, Canadians met this moment. Let’s not take our foot off the gas one bit as we work to build a reliable, prosperous economy for everyone
