A Message from the 2025 B7 Chair
Over the past three days, leaders from across the G7 business community came together in Ottawa to confront the forces that are reshaping economies and undermining the security and stability that citizens and businesses alike depend on.

The 2025 B7 Summit was a powerful reminder that businesses are not bystanders in the global economic agenda — they are key architects of a secure, resilient and sustainable future. As the unified voice of the G7 business community, the B7 is uniquely positioned to offer pragmatic solutions to economic challenges that transcend domestic agendas.
The positive influence businesses have on communities large and small is the bedrock thinking that should inform economic policy. But businesses need a predictable and reliable environment to succeed. Unfortunately, that is not the environment we find ourselves in today.
Over the past three days, leaders from across the G7 business community came together in Ottawa to confront the forces that are reshaping economies and undermining the security and stability that citizens and businesses alike depend on. Our conclusion was clear: we must move beyond the status quo.
As the B7, we responded to recent trade realignments, resource vulnerabilities and disruptive technologies with a unified voice and a focused agenda centred around this year’s theme, “Bolstering Economic Security and Resilience.”
The official B7 2025 Communiqué, built off the work done in past years, reflects the discussions from the Summit and months of collaboration. It identifies global trade, critical minerals, regulatory reform, energy security, and AI adoption as the pillars of a stronger, resilient economic future.
Canada has both a responsibility and an opportunity to do our part here at home. To build our economic security and sovereignty through smart policy — not only to create a better life for all Canadians but to help our partners do the same within their communities.
- Candace Laing, President and CEO, Canadian Chamber of Commerce
