As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, small businesses all over Canada have been coming up with new ways to remain open and adjust to new ways of operating. Peter’s Players from Gravenhurst, Ontario is one of 62 small businesses that received a $10,000 CBRN grant.
Michelle Swanek explains that Peter’s Players’ livelihood depends on group gatherings and coming together, which resulted in them being greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As entrepreneurs, Peter’s Players has had to be creative to keep their business afloat and remain a hub of entertainment for their community.
Peter’s Players aims to use the Small Business Relief Fund grant to purchase equipment for artists to perform safely along with ensuring the health and safety of their employees and volunteers. They are also hoping to launch drive-in concerts in partnership with their local drive-in movie theatre.
Swanek emphasises the community’s excitement to get out and enjoy Peter’s Players once again amidst this new normal.
