Immigration Council

Immigration has traditionally been a core Canadian value and a critical driver of economic growth. For our collective prosperity, Canada needs a functional immigration system.

The Council

Canada’s immigration system has lost its edge, and the country is becoming a less attractive destination for skilled workers.

In the past 18 months, and in the context of significant pressures on housing, infrastructure and social services, the federal government has implemented short-sighted and drastic changes to temporary and permanent immigration policy. These changes are impacting Canadian businesses across the country and are likely to cause significant harm to our economy in the long-term.

The Canadian Chamber and our members on the Immigration Council will advocate for effective immigration policy that responds to our current and future economic needs, increasing our productivity, economic growth and collective prosperity.

The Council is an action-oriented national forum for businesses and organizations spanning sectors, industries and regions that want to advance solutions that will restore confidence in our immigration system.
