Last week, our EVP, Matthew Holmes appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on International Trade to discuss the importance of strengthening Canada–Japan economic ties.

He highlighted Japan’s role as one of Canada’s most important partners — the world’s fourth-largest economy, a top foreign investor in Canada, and a key ally in the Indo-Pacific, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $40 billion.

The Canadian Chamber’s message was clear: strengthening Canada–Japan ties is firmly in Canada’s national interest and a key part of advancing trade diversification within a rules-based global economy.
