Vice President, Policy and International
Michael Harvey is Vice President, Policy and International at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. He has more than 20 years of experience in public policy from the business, non-profit and government perspectives.
Before joining the Chamber Michael was Director of Corporate Affairs with Goldcorp, responsible for government relations and communications for the gold producer’s Latin American operations. He was President of the Canadian Council for the Americas, a non-profit organization dedicated to political relations, exchange and investment with Latin American and the Caribbean.
As a diplomat, Michael was Head of the Political Section of the Canadian embassies in Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. He also served in Bogota as a Political Advisor for the Organization of American States (Mission to Support the Peace Process in Colombia) and the United Nations.
Michael grew up in Nova Scotia. He holds Bachelor degrees in Law (McGill University) and Political Science (University of Ottawa), as well as a Masters in International Commercial Law and Practice from the University of Edinburgh. A member of the Quebec Bar, Michael speaks fluent French, Spanish and Portuguese.
