OTTAWA – November 7, 2019 – Today, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce announced Phil Noble, retired CEO and Executive Partner of Grant Thornton LLP, as its Chair of the Board of Directors for 2019-2020.
Mr. Noble’s appointment brings to the Canadian Chamber exceptional Canadian and global business leadership experience and a passion for supporting privately held companies.

His deep understanding of what Canadian businesses need to grow and succeed will be invaluable to our work. The chamber network is very lucky to have his leadership,” said the Hon. Perrin Beatty, PC, OC, President and CEO of the Canadian Chamber.
Mr. Noble spent the large majority of his professional career at Grant Thornton LLP, joining as a newly-qualified Chartered Accountant in 1983 before being named CEO in 2008 and retiring in 2016. Under Mr. Noble’s leadership, Grant Thornton LLP was one of Canada’s fastest growing professional services firms and was recognized as one of Canada’s Best Workplaces for eight consecutive years.
From 2007 to 2016, Mr. Noble also served as a member of the global board of governors of Grant Thornton International Ltd., the U.K.-based umbrella organization for the independent member firms of Grant Thornton located in 130 countries around the world. Grant Thornton International Ltd. is one of the world’s largest independent accounting firm networks.

Mr. Noble was sworn in at the Canadian Chamber’s annual general meeting (AGM) in Saint John, New Brunswick, on September 23.
